Can I use I²C instead of SMBus for EMC2xxx?
EMC2xxx can be interfaced with I²C. Below are some of the differences between SMBus and I²C:
- I²C does not have an alert pin. SMBus has an alert pin.
- I²C does not have a timeout feature. SMBus has a timeout feature.
- I²C offers a relative voltage input threshold while SMbus has a fixed threshold. Compatibility is ensured with maximum VIL of 0.8 V and minimum VIH of 2.1 V for the device.
