What certifications are there for the CEC1702 True Random Number Generator (TRNG)?
- Be careful, this may be a misleading or mistaken question. You cannot certify a TRNG. However, you can certify a Deterministic Random Number Generator (DRNG), also known as a Pseudorandom Number Generator (PRNG).
- What can be validated is the entropy source for the TRNG. The CEC1702 has been designed in accordance with NIST SP 800-90A and NIST SP 800-90B (draft).
- Further, the TRNG design has been validated with the NIST SP 800-22 and BSI AIS 31 methodology.
- Finally, for the generation of cryptographic keys, TRNGs must be certified to FIPS 140-2. For which the CEC1702 DRNG has been certified.
