What is the ATSTCON register on the MCP19114?

What is the purpose of the ATSTCON register for MCP19114? The demo code available on the webpage initializes this register with 0x00 but the datasheet does not contain information about it.

The ATSTCON register is used solely for manufacturing test purposes. At Reset, the ATSTCON register reads 0x00. You should avoid read/write operations to this register.
