"Link Error: Could not allocate section '_abcdef', because 'ymemory, near' is not a valid combination on this device"
What does this error mean "Link Error: Could not allocate section '_abcdef', because 'ymemory, near' is not a valid combination on this device"?
The error message indicates that the dsPIC® Digital Signal Controller (DSC) Y-memory is outside of the "near" memory range. Refer to the device datasheet "Memory" section to see where the near memory and Y-memory regions are.
The variable/s declared in Y-memory must either use the "far" compiler attribute or the compiler memory model for data must be set for large in the compiler settings. If the device supports Extended Data Space (EDS), the variable/s to be declared in Y-memory may require the EDS attribute.
