RN42 - S7,1 Command Produces ERR Response

On the RN42, the command to set the 7-bit data mode S7,1 produces an ERR response. Why does this happen?

The 7-bit data mode is no longer available in v6.15 firmware. As of now, we recommend using modules with v4.77 firmware, if there is a need for 7-bit data mode. Modules with the older version of firmware (v4.77) can still be purchased through microchipDIRECT with the following part numbers:

  • RN41-I/RM477
  • RN41N-I/RM477
  • RN42-I/RM477
  • RN42N-I/RM477

These modules cannot have their firmware upgraded in the field.
