LAN9252 - Can I Increase the EtherCAT® Payload?
Yes, you can increase theEtherCAT® payload. From a protocol standpoint, EtherCAT embeds its payload in a standard Ethernet frame. So in a given frame, EtherCAT can send up to 1498 bytes of data, excluding the necessary headers and frame checksum. The actual data sent within a frame is configurable via the application.
Please read the "EtherCAT Slave Implementation Guide" for more information about EtherCAT frame structure and allowed data payload.
