Unable to create MPLAB® Harmony project or MPLAB Harmony Configurator (MHC) plugin crashes on load.

Why am I unable to create a Harmony project? Why does MHC crash when I try to start it?

You may see the following error message:
"MPLAB Harmony Configurator failed to initialize"

There are two versions of the MPLAB® Harmony framework: v1.x and v2.x. Each version has its own MPLAB® Harmony Configurator (MHC) plugin and they are incompatible with each other.

These issues are caused by the following:

To recover, please uninstall both versions of the plugin and only install the version that is compatible with the Harmony version you want to work with. If you decide to work with a different version of Harmony, you will need to uninstall the currently installed plugin before installing the new one.

Another option is to install two versions of the MPLAB X IDE (multiple versions of the IDE can exist on the same computer) and install one plugin version in one, and one plugin version in the other.
