MPLAB® ICD3 Works, but MPLAB REAL ICE™ In-circuit Emulator Doesn't

The MPLAB® ICD 3 programs at a slower frequency than the MPLAB Real ICE™ in-circuit emulator. The REAL ICE in-circuit emulator is more susceptible to noise and line capacitance. These situations usually occur on a user-designed board.

Ensure the following:

  • There are no capacitors on the programming lines.
  • The programming lines are short.
  • The programming lines are isolated from noisy parts of the circuit.
