Why is my MCP2200 driver not loaded in Windows®?
You can try the following:
- The MCP2200/MCP2221 Windows® Driver and Installer can be found on the MCP2200 product page. Double-check that this is the driver you use.
- If you are indeed using this driver, please uninstall it from the Device Manager and select the option to delete the file upon uninstallation. If you don't delete the file and reinstall the driver, the same file will be used. If this file was somehow corrupted, it will still be used no matter how many times it is reinstalled.
- Make sure your antivirus/firewall is not set up on such a level that may interfere with the driver. Usually, antivirus software has a thing for drivers since a lot of viruses exploit driver vulnerabilities. You can even disable it for a few minutes to make sure this is not the case.
- Make sure your operating system is updated. This is very important. You can try the MCP2200 units on another PC to make sure that the module was not physically damaged by a power surge in the USB port. If it is still okay, it should work on another PC.
- Consider what other applications you may have installed on your PC that may interfere. It is possible that other applications may try to use the same resources like memory addresses and can create conflicts among drivers.
