Can I alter the keep out areas for RF modules?

It is not advisable to alter any specification recommended in a datasheet. This is especially true when RF is involved. If you must make changes, then you need to perform experiments to analyze the resultant impact on the particular application and range of likely installations. These experiments must be done on a statistically significant number of units in order to build an understanding which helps to evaluate the impact.
