Can the XC8 Compiler check for MISRA compliance?

No, the XC8 Compiler cannot check for Motor Industry Software Reliability Association (MISRA) compliance.

The MPLAB® X IDE provides the PC-Lint plugin under the list of Available Plugins. PC-Lint is a static code analysis tool. PC-Lint can be used from within the MPLAB X IDE by installing the plugin from:
MPLAB X IDE > Tools > Plugins > Available Plugins > Click on PC-Lint > Install.

PC-Lint has a plugin that does MISRA-C compliance checking.
