Step 4: Generate Code

When done, before generating code, click Save MHC State.

Save the configuration in its default location when prompted.

Click on the Generate Code button to start generating code.

Click on the Generate button in the Generate Project window, keeping the default settings.

If prompted, click Save to save the configuration.

As the code is generated, MPLAB® Harmony Configurator (MHC) displays the progress.

Examine the generated code.

MHC will include all the MPLAB Harmony library files and generate the code based on the MHC selections. The generated code will add files and folders to your Harmony project as shown.

Among the generated code, notice the Peripheral Library (PLIB) files generated for the Two-Wire Interface (SERCOM2 as I²C), Universal Synchronous Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (SERCOM3 as USART), and PORT peripherals. Also, notice the generated files for the USART, I²C Drivers synchronous drivers, and the necessary files for selected RTOS (FreeRTOS).

MHC also generates the template main file (main_d21.c), the application thread files (app_eeprom_thread.c, app_sensor_thread.c and app_user_input_thread.c) for the EEPROM, sensor, and user input threads.

Navigate to the Projects tab to view the project tree structure.

Build the code by clicking on the Clean and Build button build_button.png and verify that the project builds successfully. At this point, you are ready to start implementing your application code.
