Plugins Window: Available Plugins Tab

To access the Plugins window, select from the main menu: Tools > Plugins

The Available Plugins Tab of the Plugins Window is used to view and install new plugins available from the registered update centers.

To check the update center and refresh the list of available plugins, click Reload Catalog.

To install a plugin, check the box next to the plugin in the list and click Install. Once the installation is complete, the plugin will no longer be displayed in this list but will now appear under the Installed tab.

Installing Microchip Supplied Plugins

Open the Plugin Manager

For the purposes of this tutorial, we will install the DMCI (Data Monitoring and Control Interface) plugin.

In MPLAB® X IDE, open the Plugins Manager by selecting from the main menu: Tools ▶ Plugins.

Select and Install the Plugin

  1. In the Plugins window, select the Available Plugins tab.
  2. In the left pane, check the box next to the desired plugin.
  3. Click Install at the bottom left of the window.

Follow Plugin Installer Prompts

Click Next >

Accept the License Agreement

If you agree with the terms of the license, check the box next to "I accept the terms…".

Click Next >

Validation Warning

Although plugins displayed under the Available Plugins tab were developed by Microchip Technology or a third party partner and provided through a Microchip registered update center, they may not have been digitally signed.

If you trust the source of the plugin (in this case, Microchip Technology), click Continue, otherwise click Cancel.

Click Finish

Verify Installation

The plugin you just installed will no longer be displayed under the Available Plugins tab. Select the Installed tab and verify that the plugin you installed now appears in this list.
