PIC16F818/819 Limitations

This device family does not require a header for debug and none is available. Device limitations are as follows:

  • General Debug Limitations.
  • General Programming Limitations.
  • You cannot single step through an interrupt. Due to hardware restrictions, the debugger/emulator cannot jump to the interrupt vector memory location in Single Step mode.
  • MCLR pin not dedicated. Do not use MCLR for another function (i.e., digital I/O) as this can cause programming problems, even in debug. You may not be able to program again until power is cycled.
  • BF is cleared when SSPBUF is interrogated by software.
  • RBIF is cleared when PORT is interrogated by software.

Freeze on Halt Limitations

  • Freeze on Halt is not supported.
