Shutdown start-up state of MCP linear voltage regulators
Does the chip start off as Active, Shutdown, or is the state inconclusive? How can the start-up state of the chip be Shutdown?
The Shutdown (SHDN) pin must not be left floating. There is no pull-up or pull-down so the pin must be connected through a resistor to ground for the device to start in SHDN mode. The SHDN input is used to turn the LDO (low-dropout) output voltage on and off. When the SHDN input is at a logic-high level, the LDO output voltage is enabled. When the SHDN input is pulled to a logic-low level, the LDO output voltage is disabled.
